Why do people fear Barack Obama?

advertisement

I ponder what causes people to fear Barack Obama. So I have to wonder if it's because of his name. I wonder if she and other people who fear Obama would vote for him if his name was not an African name with a Muslim middle name - like if his name was Andrew Johnson or Paul Anderson.

Barack is an African name that means "blessed" and also a derivative of the Hebrew name "Baruch." Hussein, a common Arabic name, means "handsome, good, small."
Obama is an African Luo name (male) from Western Kenya (Nyanza Provice) which may derive from "obam," connoting "bending" or "leaning."

For whatever causes one to "fear" Obama, one should have comfort that the likes of the Kennedys are campaigning for Obama. General Eisenhower's grand-daughter, who has always voted Republican, has said that Obama is the better choice. The Clintons and John Kerry endorse Obama and even John McCain says he is a decent man.

If you agree with the policies Obama offers, you should not be afraid to vote for the man behind the policies. We should be above racial prejudices, no matter the color of his skin or the name given to him at birth , both things he had no control over – and most of all, fear mongering. Let's have the courage and be strong enough to overcome these negativity.

Finally if Obama loses the election because of racism, it will be a reflection of what America is, a reflection of all of us and it would be a shame.
